Melbourne Marathon
The Melbourne Marathon is held in Melbourne in October. Runners head along Wellington Parade South; up to and along Flinders Street before turning left at Swanston Street and heading out along St Kilda Road. Runners will then head along St Kilda Road to Fitzroy Street and turn right into Lakeside Drive, exiting at Albert Road. The course will then head along Kerferd Road before turning left into Beaconsfield Parade. At the Beaconsfield Parade intersection with Jacka Boulevard, runners will veer right and then follow the beach road along Jacka Boulevard, Marine Parade, Ormond Esplanade, St Kilda Esplanade and then along Beach Road to Sandringham. The turnaround point for marathon runners is at Bamfield Street in Sandringham. Runners will turn at this point and then retrace their steps to St Kilda, and then follow the traditional course up Fitzroy Street, turn left into the beautiful tree-lined boulevard of St Kilda Road all the way to Princes Bridge. Runners then take a right turn down Princes Walk at the back of Fed Square, and follow the path through Birrarung Marr and up over William Barak Bridge. Continuing around the MCG concourse in a clockwise direction before entering the MCG off Brunton Avenue at the Gate C Tunnel. Runners then will run an anti-clockwise lap of the MCG.
