Good Running Events looks forward to welcoming thousands of runners of all abilities and ages back to the streets of Peterborough City Centre for the return of the AEPG Great Eastern Run which will host a Half Marathon and the 5K Fun Run and will aim to raise many thousands of pounds for good causes. Organized by Good Running Events, the Great Eastern Run is a major event in the UK running calendar, welcoming over 5,000 runners. With a start and finish at the Embankment, the event boasts a super flat and fast route around the streets of Peterborough City Centre. Don't miss it! Registration Open: 7:30am. 5K Fun Run Start: 9:00am. Half Marathon Start: 10:30am. Age limits 4 years or older for 5K Fun Run (all children aged 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult). 17+ for the Half Marathon. Course Measurement Reference 23/364. The 5K Fun Run will begin first at 9:00am, with the Half Marathon runners beginning at 10:30am. A bespoke medal and goodie bag will be available to all runners. Chip Timing is in operation on the Half Marathon and 5K distances. Trophies are awarded to the top three male and female runners and category winners. The main race will start and finish at the Embankment as per previous years and take in the usual route around Peterborough City Centre. The Event Village will be open from 7:30am. Further details regarding race packs will be made available nearer the event. Runners must write their name, any medical condition, emergency contact name, and contact number on the reverse of their race number where requested. The course features a route with fully closed roads. Please follow all signage and marshal's directions at all times and keep to the left unless instructed otherwise. Medical teams will be present onsite - if you feel pain, experience dizziness, or any other symptoms immediately stop running and seek help from a marshal, who can radio through for medical assistance. There will be five water stations on the course. Bottles of water will be provided to runners with a sports cap - please drink what you would like and either take it with you to run or empty the bottle and deposit it into the bins provided. In-ear Headphones are banned from the race. Bone-conducting headphones though are permitted so long as you can still hear marshal instructions clearly. Appropriate footwear should be worn. The routes are fully based on roads, outside of the Embankment start/finish. Unfortunately, refunds are not available, but if you are unable to run on the day, transfers are available on the website until 23:59pm on 24th September. After this date, please do not pass your race number to someone else. If this is identified, both the runner and new runner will be disqualified, banned from future races, and referred to the permit regulators. UNITED KINGDOM ENGLAND — 2024-10-13 — Ely. "Ely Tri Club Runfest". The Ely Tri Club Runfest was created for those who like a choice of distances ranging from 10k to 66k. Starting and finishing at the iconic 11th century cathedral, the races take in more of the beautiful historic city of Ely before heading into the Cambridgeshire countryside. Most of the course involves quiet, traffic free paths along the banks of the rivers Great Ouse and Cam and their adjacent fens (there's only one short, gentle climb through Cherry Hill Park in the entire race). Those running the marathon and ultra also get a trip through the Wicken Fen nature reserve, home to more than 9,000 species, including Konik ponies, cattle, birds and rare plants. Entry details, locations, logistics and course information is available at the Ely Tri Club website or Facebook page. This is a low key, friendly event which welcomes adult runners of all ages and abilities. With a few obstacles (steps, stiles, cattle grids etc) along the way, the routes are perhaps better tailored for adventure, fun and stamina rather than PBs. But whatever your pace or goal there'll be plenty of food/drink stations and enthusiastic marshal support throughout. GREECE — 2024-10-19 — Thessaloniki. "International Thessaloniki Night Half Marathon". This is the 12th edition of the International Thessaloniki Night Half Marathon-Zenith. In this edition, the Half Marathon (21km) starts at 19:30 from the Municipal Stadium of Ampelokipoi “Konstantinos Karamanlis”. There are also the Health and Power Walking Races of 10 and 5 kilometers. The 10km race starts at 16.45 from the Municipal Stadium of Ampelokipoi “Konstantinos Karamanlis”, while the 5km race starts at 18:15 from Megalou Alexandrou str. at the height of “Kordelio- Evosmos” Town Hall and there is also the Family Mile race for those that want to run with their whole family for just 1 mile. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA NEVADA — 2024-10-19 — Sand Harbor. "Cal Neva Marathon & Carnelian Bay Half Marathon". The Saturday Cal-Neva Marathon is the fastest and flattest of the 3 marathons of the Tahoe Triple Marathon. The second half of the marathon is the Carnelian Bay Half Marathon that starts at Carnealian Bay. The first part of the Marathon is in NV and the balance is in CA, meaning it can be counted for either State in your quest to run all 50 States. The views of this race are incredible, starting at Sand Harbor and running along the lake counter clockwise. The Cal-Neva Marathon starts at about 6230' and ends at lake level, near 6230'. There is a different finishers medal for each race, each day, and finishers license plate holders awarded at the finish. Travel bags and tech shirts will be awarded at the Expo only.
