Near the 30th Avenue exit on Interstate 5, just off Seavey Loop, runners can explore the Howard Buford Recreational Area, home to Mt. Pisgah. The recreational area has something for runners of all fitness abilities. Around the base of the mountain, runners can explore wooded, flat horse paths and the wood-chipped trails through the arboretum along the banks of the Coast Fork of the Willamette River. Climbing the trails to the summit of Mt. Pisgah is always a challenge; multiple fire roads and single-track trails lead to the top. If you are planning on driving to the park, be sure to bring some money as nominally priced parking permits are required for day usage; day passes are available at the trailheads.
