Nasca

Running in the small town of Nasca (Nazca) is advised only early in the morning because of the heat and traffic. The best course, for those who love to run in open spaces, is definitely to run along the Panamericana Sur. Yes, it is a highway, there are cars, trucks and no shade at all, but it is an amazing long asphalted stretch through the deserted Pampas de Jumana, on the Southern coast of Peru. If you are a long distance runner, you can run from Nasca to the Mirador, which is an iron tower allowing you to admire from its top a couple of the lines and geoglyphs the region is famous for (there is a small fee to pay). The distance is approximately 20 kilometers each way. January is the best month.
